Remember that we have to be careful how we interpret growth. Of course there is a lot of spending and production going on in Christchurch at the moment, but most of that is just us trying to get back what we once had! If this kind of growth was a good thing, we would blow up a major city on a regular basis just to get the benefit of the rebuild-associated economic growth!
Ooh oooh! I just found another lovely one and with a video too! This one describes how youth unemployment has evolved over the last decade in several major European economies. Germany's experience has been in stark contrast to that of other European countries, attributed in large part to the German government taking a step BACK: Easing workplace regulation to make it easier to sack someone and generally interfering less in employment! This is great because a lot of people mistakenly believe that government interference and regulation is helpful. This video shows how the market can often do a better job when just left alone.
